How You Can Find Joint Pain Relief January 21 2014
Have you been struggling with joint pain? It can slow you down and affect every part of your life. Don’t let it! There are ways to relieve your pain:
- Medications: You can take over the counter NSAIDs for pain relief and to ease the inflammation of your joints. However, use these with caution: some medications have been taken off of the market because they increased the risk of heart attack and stroke. Some still available can cause liver damage and gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Injections of Steroid Medications: A doctor can inject a steroid medication into your joint via a needle. You’ll need to keep these injections up every 3 to 4 months. There is some debate about whether these injections are really beneficial, but some people experience a great deal of relief.
- Physical Therapy: Working with a physical therapist can help you strengthen your joints and increase your range of motion. Low impact exercises will also help you lose weight which can relieve the pressure on your joints. You’ll need to check with your insurance to see if they’ll cover the cost of physical therapy sessions.
